![]() ![]() And if you released a dedicated sampler for it all, forgetaboutit, I'd never have to use anything else (as of now, I'm still looking to BFD and DFHS for the quieter stuff, and, of course, cymbal production.)Ī quick question about 2.0: Will the new cymbal packs provide more or less the same amount of hits/velocity layers as the drum hits in 1.5? I ask because although I use BFD and DFHS regularly for production and it sounds great, I am still not completely satisfied with the cymbal work, especially with things like gradually opening hi hats and crash washing. If you released a pack with "wimpier" hits, some brushes, sidesticks and drags, I would be all over it. ![]() I know these are mainly marketed towards rock. It's just that I'm so impressed by the great job your team did on these projects that I'm even moreso than normally inclined to voice my opinion about what I'd like to see in future releases. I love these samples and use them all the time I think they are the best in their class. Like they are too heavily limited, have too much body resonance, too much snap/crack on the attack, etc.In short, they kick too much ass. Don't get me wrong, the "soft" samples and new "ultra soft" samples work great for most rock songs, especially for snare rolls/crescendos, but for some quieter passages, and other quieter genres, the softer hits are still too aggressive for me. Heck, even the "ultra soft" hits are too hard! They still sound very cracky and aggressive to me and very heavily compressed, almost like the drummer was actually playing the hit very hard, but the volume of the sample was simply turned down. It works great!įor some music I work on, however, the "hard" hits are still way too hard. ![]() #Steven slate drums download free pro#I do this often I will actually split the snare track into separate tracks in Pro Tools and use dedicated instances of Drumagog with certain hits muted for more control. For kicks 6,7,8,9 are pretty laid backGood advice, Joel. Also, some laid back guys are Snare 4, 6, 8, and the HARD hits on 11 and 12. ![]() For quieter music the HARD hits should be the top velocity. I just mixed a friend's EP and it was super laid back, I replaced all the drums 100%. Also, its a favorite of drummers, every drummer I know who has heard the new demo is like "wow now thats a snare". For the guys who DO NOT want laid back stuff, I can't think of a better sounding CRACKING snare then Snare19. For kicks 6,7,8,9 are pretty laid back.ĪNYWAY. Keep up the good work, can't wait for the cymbals in 2.0! (Also, I forget at this point since the idea was asked about so many times all ready.what are the plans for a standalone player? The possibilities.mmm.)I just mixed a friend's EP and it was super laid back, I replaced all the drums 100%. Serve us up the juiciest steak we've ever tasted and we'll ask for chicken, huh? Less aggressive hits overall, maybe even incorporating ghost hits and drags into the. It would be really great to see a Steve Slate library in the future that lent itself towards more quieter, "laid back" arrangements. ![]()
